Air Quality & Meteorological Monitoring

shutterstock 85341046RTP maintains strong capabilities in ambient and indoor air quality monitoring. We have extensive experience in performing monitoring studies for criteria pollutants as well as hazardous air pollutants and air toxics. Projects range from walk through surveys to continuous monitoring systems for ambient, stack or workplace environments.  Project designs include complete PSD qualified monitoring systems for new projects to specialized approaches to meet specific project requirements. Designs have included fully automated systems with remote data processing for a variety of clients. RTP can can provide full technical support for all operating systems or work with on-site staff, depending on project and management needs.  Where appropriate, grab sample collection programs can be deployed to address specific project concerns.

As an adjunct to our aerometric experience, our meteorological monitoring experience includes the installation and operation of remote, solar powered wind systems, Doppler and monostatic acoustic radar systems, and multi-leveled tall towers. We can provide complete turnkey systems or lease equipment for the duration of a monitoring project. Training on the operation of monitoring systems is also available.

Monitoring systems must be maintained to provide useful and certified data.  RTP performs independent, "third party" system and performance audits on existing monitoring systems. We use USEPA certified gas cylinder standards with precision dilution and GPT calibrators and our meteorological auditing techniques follow USEPA and State guidelines. We also provide unique quality assurance services for auditing Doppler acoustic radar systems. Stringent data quality assurance and control procedures, as well as various precision and representative checks can be exercised depending on project demands.

RTP can provide remote data interrogation, data reduction and processing services for your existing monitoring network. We can reduce data from strip chart recorders as well as from digital data loggers or diskettes, for example, in AERMET, ISCST, AERMOD, CALPUFF format, joint frequency distributions and other formats. Statistical summaries and pollution and/or wind roses are also available.
